We named him Romeo. The ’57 is Chevy’s nostalgic favorite, so this was the final touch to our collection.
After having restored a ’55 and a ’56, Julio’s dream was to restore a ’57, the most iconic car of the 50´s, the car everybody wanted to ride.
How was this dream made possible?
San Antonio de los Baños seemed like the best place to find cars in bad condition, for their restoration and addition to our collection. With Romeo it was not different – in the end, San Antonio is Julio’s mother’s birthplace, and where everything started with Uncle Daniel.
In 2016, six years of hard work had passed but we didn’t have a 1957 Chevy. Somehow Julio managed to convince wife Nidialys, and they purchased this car from Carlos Manuel, a friend of the family. The car was cheap, and of course restoration took almost nine months.
Romeo is like a big baby, and another victory for Julio – he now has the three hot Chevy’s (’55, ‘56 and ’57), and he shows them around with great pride.
